Performing Room is first and foremost a place to belong, a home from home where we help vulnerable people find their voice and shape futures. Our approach provides inclusive music-making, creativity, and pastoral support in a safe, non-clinical environment intended to help people build connection, confidence, creative skills, and routes into wider community life. We primarily work with children and young adults aged 12-35 living with complex mental health needs, autism, SEND and learning disabilities, neurodiversity, social isolation, and other barriers to participation.

The award winning Performing Room located ideally in the heart of Northampton's famous Boot and Shoe Quarter is a community arts development programme designed to help individuals of all ages and abilities express themselves positively through music and the arts.

Making Music Making Friends
Performing Room delivers inclusive programmes combining music-making, creative production, and pastoral support. Making Music, Making Friends runs every Tuesday and Thursday from 2–6pm, providing a safe, structured, sensory and neurodiversity-aware environment to explore instruments, songwriting, digital music production and performance while supporting wellbeing and social connection.
Our Creative Hub
Our established and operational four-storey Creative Hub at 9 Guildhall Road provides public-facing performance and welcome spaces, rehearsal facilities, professional recording studios, and a dedicated performance environment that mirrors real-world live settings. During 2025/26 the Hub increased from 12 to 15 operational, usable and equipped rooms, including further renovation and equipping of second-floor recording studios. This enables participants to experience music as a wellbeing tool while developing industry-relevant skills that build confidence, aspiration and employability. Upper-floor accessibility remains incomplete, with further refurbishment, building materials, music equipment and furniture still required to bring additional rooms fully into use.

Performing Rooms has a number of spaces available for hire in an ideal location at reasonable rates for individual performers, groups, teachers, bands, community groups, faith groups, local businesses and more.
